When I attended the Sydney trade show in early 2004, it occurred to me how much the hairdressing industry promotes and sells to young people. An idea then occurred to me, which involved the industry being able to offer an opportunity to some of the disadvantaged young people I encounter. This idea has evolved into me organising an annual event called the 'Look Good for Christmas Appeal', which involves putting together a hair product hamper for some of the young people I work with at the Refuges and Juvenile Centres in Sydney.
In addition to having Hair Care companies contributing product for the hampers, I will also be approaching individual hairdressers and asking them to contribute to this very worthy cause by donating their expertise and time in the form of a voucher. There will be a system in place to track the distribution of both the products and vouchers.
2008
Towards the end of every year Jose, a Hairdresser in Sydney, organizes Christmas hampers for YOUNG HOMELESS people.
Jose invites salons and companies to take part in this event, by hosting a hamper in the salon, where staff and management can offer their clientele a range of discounted products, which can be purchased by the client and donated to the general hamper.
If you are interested in creating a little Christmas cheer this year, please join us in this event so the young people living in institutional care and local refuges will remember that there is always someone that cares for them.

Like to take part in a good project every year join other hairdressing salons and companies in the putting together of product hampers every Christmas.
Extend your family and offer a young person in care the opportunity to get a gift this Christmas, the LOOK GOOD FOR CHRISTMAS APPEAL, this is an annual project that offers you and your clients the opportunity to donate a hair or beauty product for a hamper.
